Emma au Vauban

O titulo engana os brestois que tetem ler esta messagem. O Vauban é uma sala de espetaculos, no Hotel Vauban, que é mitica em Brest. E a SALA de espetaculos: uma sala pequena para um publico de habituados. Mas não, a Emma não é o artista de umas das noites do Vauban. Mas sim uma das novas professoras do Liceu do mesmo nome. Ainda não tive a oportunidade de a fotografar a dar aulas. E a Emma tambem ainda não teve muito tempo para nos contar aqui as suas impressões do novo trabalho.
The title may be ambiguous for the Brest readers. The Vauban is a small entertainment and artistic theatre, under the Hotel Vauban, that belongs to the city mytology. So, no, Emma is not the next star presenting a show at the Vauban. But she is one of the new teachers of the High School that has the same name. I was unable to get a picture inside the classroom. And Emma have not had time to blog her impressions about the new job.No entanto podem descobrir o liceu, a sua historiae o que ai se vive. Trata-se de um liceu tecnico cuja historia começa em 1890. A sua historia segue por isso a historia de Brest, sobretudo a partir de segunda guerra: destruição, barracas, edificios de betão tipicos dos anos 50 que lembram a arquitetura "soviética". Mas como sempre em Brest, dentro desse universo materialmente frio hà sempre uma vontade de fazer novo e diferente. Não podia deixar de mostrar uma foto do "site" do liceu onde se vê o acolhimento dado ao festival Europeu do Filme Curto de Brest, que eu presidi até maio ultimo.

While waiting you may click on the web site and discover a little about the school, its history and the life inside. It is a technical High School established in 1890. Its history is strngly corelated with the history of the city. This being specially true after the war and the bombing by the allies: ruins, barracks, concrete buildings in the 50's style that remember the "soviet" architecture. But, as often in Brest, inside this materially cold universe there is allways the will to do something new and different. I picked up out of their site a picture from the day the school received the European Short Film Festival that I was in charge of till last may and that Emma and I are still collaborating with.
