Vauban à Elvas

This year in France we are remembering Vauban, a militar engineer that spread his numerous works, fortresses and defences all over France, mainly against the British... and that spreading spread till Elvas at the times of the famous Battle of the Oranges. Why are we interested about Vauban? Just because Vauban is very important at Brest. Emma is teaching at a school named after him. It was funny to find him in Elvas. But the main reason is that showing you the v iew from the Vauban fortresses in Elvas, we may show you how the view is nice... it looks quite Italian, no? Ok, not the girls... but that's the end of the story about the Oranges Battle... the British are steping on the Vauban fortresse after all.
Este ano em França lembra-se e comemora-se Vauban, um engenheiro military, de grande engenho, que espalhou por toda a França uma quntidade impressionante de muralhas, fortalezas e outras obras de defesa. A maioria era pensada contra os Ingleses… e as obras e o objectivo chegaram até Elvas, na época da batalha das Laranjas. Porque é que realçamos o Sr. Vauban ? Porque a sua Obra e o seu nome são omnipresentes em Brest. Ele està em todo o lado, como o Pombal em Lisboa. O liceu onde a Emma ensina tambem tem o seu nome. Por isso achamos piada tambem o encontrar em Elvas. Mas a verdadeira razão é a de mostrar imagens da bela vista, muito Italiana. As meninas lembram o fim da batalha das laranjas… Os ingleses acabaram por pôr os pés definitivamente na fortaleza do Vauban.
